Opinion: Support Galvin

As a veteran and former Alaska legislator, I believe that responsible leadership is deeply needed in our state. I recognize that attribute in Alyse Galvin, who has spent her life lifting up Alaskans and is now running to represent our state in Congress. During her campaign, I have learned a lot about Alyse and truly feel that she will be a strong leader for Alaska. She is a third-generation Alaskan, a former small business owner, and mom of four. As a former teacher, I appreciate that she founded the Great Alaska Schools coalition, which she grew from 40 to 4,000 people statewide and saved $200 million in budget cuts to our public schools.

Alyse didn’t stop fighting for our schools after this victory and went on to work with lawmakers from both sides of the aisle to keep education a priority. Alyse is an independent who bridges the partisan divide and will work hard for all Alaskans to get what we need. Our public officials must have honesty and integrity. Alyse has these qualities and will fight for Alaska families in Washington.
